Some loose sketches

I haven't been able to post lately but that doesn't mean I haven't been drawing. I am into horses lately. They are really fascinating creatures with bold shapes and interesting poses. They are hard to draw but fun when they look right!

Below are some that I drew this past week.

French Grenadiers

Here is a drawing of some French Grenadiers during the Napoleonic wars. The Grenadiers were elite infantry units usually the largest group on the field. They were used for assaulting fortified positions.

The picture has bands on the top and bottom due to my horrid scanner.

Some civil war sketches

I sketched a few Civil War picks during the weekend. I posed for one of them, and had to redraw it over five times. I guess because a handsome guy like me can be hard to draw. This comes from other people, NOT myself.

General J. Jackson "Stonewall"

Pickett's Charge "the high water mark"

...and this is a picture from the Indian wars.
I wonder who posed for that one?

...and here with a little color pencil.

Digital Color

I threw some color on some sketches I had lying around.

These rodents are equipped with penetration search lights on the tip of each gun!

but they should have stopped poking around! AAAAaaahhHHHH!!!!! No seriously they do this all the time when they're supposed to go to the vet clinic. Being declawed is horrid.

The Battle of Mobile Bay!

I just bought this news reel for about $140. Judging by the date on the reel, August 5, 1864, it appears to be the Battle of Mobile Bay . I have no doubt in my mind that this is real footage. I paid a pretty penny for it. A fake news reel would not have cost this much.

At the end of the video, James Ewell Brown Stuart saves Fort Morgan, resulting in a Confederate victory!
